Instructional Updates:

We are continuing our inquiry into conflicts that cause change with our Civil War unit. Students have been researching using a variety of sources to summarize key events of the Civil War. They are working in groups to present their findings in a creative way. Presentations will be Wednesday. I can't wait to see what they have prepared.

This week students will have 2 assessments. The mid-module math assessment is Wednesday and students will receive homework/study guide in class Monday. It is also attached below. The focus of this assessment will be writing expressions, multi-digit multiplication (whole number and decimals). The Social Studies assessment will cover the key causes of the civil war, people and places: Students have graphic organizers and notes in their journals they can use to prepare and study for the assessment. There is also a link to a Quizlet that students can use to study for the Social Studies assessments.

Way to go to everyone that participated in the 5K Saturday...Special "shout-out" to Katie for her diligence in taking Nancy for a run too!

Students are hard at work with their groups discussing key battles and events of the Civil War.

Mr. Sullivan (Michael's dad) visited with us Friday to share the cannon ball and newspapers from the Civil War era. So great to see and feel actual artifacts from the time period we are learning about!
