Instructional Updates:

Homework this week will be completion of the two study guides linked above. Students received a copy of each in class Tuesday and will have time in class to work on them. We will be going over the science study guide in class Wednesday and the math study guide in class Thursday. I'm also attaching video links that may help with the multiplication and division problems on the study guide. There are links to addition/subtraction videos on last week's blog posting.

In Science we continued with our inquiry into plant classification. Students collected data over the course of a week to observe both a vascular and nonvascular plant. We've been discussing how to collect data and organize it in our journals so that we can access it later. Both the content and data collection connect to our Unit of Inquiry: How We Organize Ourselves.

During Genius Hour students have been working to create and develop an organized civilation including a classification system of organisms that live there and a governing constitution.

Last Friday we celebrated the dedication and grand reveal of our new Little Library by dressing as our favorite book character. A number of parents, students and staff stayed after school for the dedication of the new Little Library to Mr. Marty McKinnon who had a life-long love of books and was a long time CSD employee . He worked here at F.AVE for several years as the media clerk in the media center. We also got to hear from the author of an amazing book: Towers Falling.
